NOTES : NUMBER BASES (FORM 5 - CHAPTER 1)

Important Concepts For This Topic :

1. Number in base two are numbers that use two digits only. The digits are 0 and 1.

2. Numbers in base eight are numbers that use eight digits only. The digits are 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7.

3. Numbers in base five are numbers that use five digits only. The digits are 0,1,2,3,4.

4. To convert a number in base two, base eight or base five to a number in base ten, state the number in expanded notation and simplify the expanded notation.

5. To convert a number in base ten to a number in base two, base eight or base five, perform repeated division using the respective base until the quotient is zero and then use the remainders to write the number in the new base.
